Wagons Ho!

In the latest issue of AutoWeek, the Escape Road focuses on Station Wagons, in particular Country Squires. Take a trip down memory lane, click the link to go to AutoWeek.

My Uncle John had a series of Country Squires when I was a kid and for long road trips, my parents would swap cars with him. We would load up a family of 7 and all our lugage and drive all over the east coast.

I don't know why Station Wagons became un-cool, Baby Boomers feeling insecure I guess. But I'd love to see the Country Squire name come back on the new FreeStyle or the concpet Fairlane. Wood siding and all, wagons can be cool.

Wagons are still cool, but fake wood siding is not!!!

Two things:

CNN had a picture of the new Jackyouwuh and Nadar ( as in license plate spotted on Chevy Corvair FUKNADER ) wants the feds to put a warning label on Ford Trucks with cruise control.

Just thought I'd give somme story leads.

Tommy O, I'm sort of kidding. Wagons have their place in the market and could be cooler than mini vans. The fake wood could come back. I'm not saying you should buy one.

Some of us, like station wagons.

Dotty Gale, I've heard about that and may comment. Text of the article was emailed to me yestrday. Combine that with the earlier articles on Piston Slap and Blowing Spark Plugs, and you have a real problem for Ford.

I like to keep it upbeat about Ford. If I beat up them too much, they'll never give me a free car :)

Dotty Gale, did you ever see the movie Harrold and Maude?

There's an XKE Hearse in the movie. I always loved that :)
