Brazil, one of the places that time forgot
1983 Ford Galaxie from Brazil
Brazil is one of those places that is very removed from the world auto market. Due to high import costs and laws requiring high local content of parts. Many cars available in Brazil were unique to that market and surounding South American markets. Take this car for example.
Based on the 1965 Ford Galaxie, this is a 1983 Ford of Brazil Galaxie. The same basic car from 1965 was given some cosmetic upgrades over the years, but essentially remained the same.
The Galaxie was not the only Ford to remain frozen in time in Brazil. The Ford Falcon from 1961 was also available with cosmetic upgrades until 1983. After 1983 the economic and political picture changed and more modern cars were introduced to the market there. The Maverick was also a poplular Ford in Brazil and from pictures below, you can see they had the only Maverick Station Wagons ever built.
