The new MazdaSpeed3 which is making it's debut in Europe, will eventually come to our shores with 250 hp through the front wheels and a sub $30k pricetag. Unlike the MazdaSpeed6, it won't have the all wheel drive and it will be shy 24hp, but with it's lower weight, acceleration should be on par with big brother, and price should be lower. Built on the Ford/Mazda family platform, that underpins the Euro Focus, this could help ease the pain for some. I know that despite it's being a 5 door and my preference for the Ford's smoother styling, that I would consider it for my garage.

Ford has some amazing products they sell globally, and if they want to improve their image here in the US, they need to bring some of them here. Start with the Euro Focus, then bring us the Fiesta, Falcon and Territory. Bring some of them as Mercury or Lincoln if you must, but bring them to the US soon.

In europe ford products sell for much more than they sell here, that is probaly why we don't get those cars.
But i think they really should figure out a way to get those cars here.

I don't buy that excuse anymore, Mazda is able to sell the Speed6 and now the Speed3 here, and Volvo certainly doesn't sell at a loss.
So I'm not buying that cost excuse any more. Import the design and assemble the cars in current Focus plants. The cost would be made up by larger sales of the new model.
Ford needs to bring to market quickly a Focus with at least 250 Hp , Why not theast generation european RS ? Why not the current RS?
Personally I would Take the Speed3

BobZoom, the current top of the line Focus world wide is the ST from Europe, the RS was not approved for this model year, it was set to have 300 hp and all wheel drive, instead the ST has 240 hp and front wheel drive.
So while I agree, the RS would be a great car, since it wasn't approved for Europe, it's not to be. The last generation RS was 2004 I believe.
So you opting for the MazdaSpeed3 is probably the best option for the US market, but since you already have the bruising MazdaSpeed6, I guess it's a mute point.
Your right I won't get the Mazdaspeed3, But I will Be looking for a second car in the next 3 to 6 months. Ford won't have anything out in time, But Mazda of course has the mazda 3 and Dodge has the new Caliber. The wife also likes the Scion tc.
